Can you use life coaching and NLP to stop smoking is a question I have been asked many times. Occasionally, it was loved ones asking the question, rather the person who really needs to quit.
Why specifically do you want to be free from smoking when there are so many toxins you need to detox? I am sure you want to improve your health, wealth and relationships. Who doesn’t? It seems that everywhere on the planet somebody, somewhere, in some way wants to improve their life through changes in their habits. Welcome to the largest club on Earth. Many people are chasing the same dream and believing in all kinds of weird and whacky new fads that hit the market. They will try almost anything except the one thing that will work. Changing the way they think about their own life.
Life coaching and NLP could help you stop smoking
Let me qualify that. Whether it is losing weight, getting fitter, feeling calmer, being vibrant in the mornings, or just being a non-smoker, it all starts with a change of perception. Where the mind goes, the body follows.
I cannot make any promises that life coaching or NLP can help you achieve freedom from your smoking habits. What I can offer is two options if you need support to kick the habit:
1. Our Personal Breakthrough Coaching package will take you one to one with Tony Healer for a transformational experience.
2. Our Online coaching program with all the tools you need to trigger a transformation at your own pace.
Health is already a trillion dollar industry
You may already be aware that health is a trillion-dollar industry. The evidence is everywhere you look. Slimming clubs, health clubs, in media advertising and even in the government advice for our fruit and vegetable intakes. You probably even noticed health coaching in your area. Gyms are packed and attracting new members all the time. But at the same time hospital waiting lists are off the charts. How ironic.
We are privileged today to live in a society that benefits from advances in medicine, but who wants medicine to solve their health problems? Did you ever read the side effects? You don’t want to become a guinea pig for the pharmaceutical industry. But in many ways you already are. The biggest killers are still preventable diseases such as obesity, heart disease and cancer. How come?
Look around you, notice how many people are overweight, over tired, have allergies, stressed out, have bad backs, or other physical complaints. People are still suffering the same illnesses, colds, flu’s, nausea, vomiting, and these are mostly preventable through lifestyle choices. What’s behind the choices you are making? Is it really free will, or is there some kind of programming keeping people stuck in the same loop?
Let’s imagine you just paid £75,000 for a brand new car. Cash. You see an advert with a beautiful Hollywood icon pumping fuel into a the very car and they look seriously cool. But the fuel is totally wrong for this model. Its sticky, thick and tar like rather than light and free flowing. The superstar even tells you the fuel is “thick and gooey like super fuel should be.” And people buy this paid advertising nonsense?
The ad doesn’t show the fuel pipes clogging up, the rotten smell in the cabin, the broken down car on the side of the road waiting for the emergency mechanics. Would you buy into this story and try the same fuel in your shiny new car? Just to look cool like a greedy overpaid Hollywood superstar? Who probably doesn’t even drive that car anyway?
Yet people do that to their bodies every single day. Are you really worth less than a £75,000 car? Society allowed tobacco salespeople to influence our thinking about the most important aspect of our life. Unfortunately, ill-health is also a trillion dollar industry. The tobacco industry knows it. The medical salespeople know it. All the advertisers know it too. And they got you on their hook.
What would it take for you to stop smoking?

Life coaching will help recalibrate your thinking. What could quitting smoking mean for your relationships, career, family, adventure and everything else you may desire? There must have been times when you made choices that weren’t influenced by someone else. Choices you made after careful consideration.
Think about those decisions now. What positive choices have you made about your own health that were not influenced in some way by someone else? Think of one specifically. Have one come to mind and ask yourself, what was your state of mind at the time? How is that choice serving you now?
Recognise this pattern of critical thinking because there were also times in your life when you did not use your own freedom to choose. If you were that state of mind would you have ever chosen to smoke a cigarette?
The marketing people think we are all lazy and cannot think for ourselves anymore! How could a nutrient depleted fast food chain ever become one of the largest franchises in a world of critical thinking people? Do you think it has to do with high quality ingredients, or exquisite presentation of the food they prepare and serve?
More importantly, how did the tobacco industry become one of the world’s most lucrative industries? Profit, lies, and lazy thinking. Just think about that for a moment.
The tobacco pioneers found a product that really has nothing going for it on paper. It clogs up your lungs, pollutes the air we breathe, it makes you stink, it turns your hands and teeth yellow. Smoking is prohibited in most public areas, and new laws are targeting private spaces too. Smoking has become anti-social. Every adult on the planet knows cigarettes are loaded with poisonous and toxic substances. We have known for decades that cigarettes cause cancer and other serious health problems. Moreover, smokers are helping governments fund wars around the globe through the high taxes on cigarettes.
Is being smoke free your only goal?
Ok let’s get off the soapbox, smoking is not the only health problem out there but I hope you are beginning to follow this. How did anyone, ever think this was a good idea? They didn’t even use a ”hard sell” technique. The subliminal programming influenced our thinking. We were helpless fools to the powerful tobacco industry giants.
And the subliminal sales programming still goes on today. Every film, every TV show, and even the news constantly places products before your eyes and you don’t even realise it. If tobacco was sold to you on truthful terms. Do you think your perceptions about smoking would in way change your mind? How hard would it be to just say “no thank you”.
The trouble is, you are conditioned to say “Yes”. To fit in, to please, to be accepted, to be cool, or whatever delusion it was for you at the time. Imagine the marketing campaign if they could only tell you the absolute truth:

“Cowboy County cigarettes. More irritating on your throat than cow pat laden dust off the horses hooves. This is not just coughing, this is the Cowboy County coffin. One day your coffin will be made this way. We’ll be thrilled to carry you off in yours. You too can proudly display your very own Cowboy County toe tag “Property of Cowboy County Morgue”
Disclaimer: Other brands are also just as toxic
Would you be running out of your house saying, “Oh my god, I got to get me some of those!!” I doubt it. However, from a business perspective, they found a cheap, highly addictive product that would have customers coming back for more and more. All they needed was a population to be sucked in. Smokers were in a trance long before they sucked on cigarettes.
Unfortunately some people cannot come out of their deep trance long enough to stop smoking. Go figure. But you are not one of them. Maybe you believed the marketing and imagined you looked cool or sexy, or manly, or sporty or sophisticated, or smart, or whatever, doing the smoking. Now it is time to open your eyes. Wide awake, ready for change. Find out how you could stop smoking with life coaching and NLP.
If you need a hand to work on your goals such as "stop smoking" our “Personal Breakthrough Coaching Program” could be for you.
To your success,
Tony Healer
